Let’s celebrate World Environment Day in 2022

This year, the Swedish government will host World Environment Day 2022 in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The year 2022 marks 50 years since the first UN conference on the human environment, the 1972 Stockholm conference, which led to the creation of UNEP and the designation of 5 June each year as World Environment Day.

The theme for World Environment Day 2022 is ‘One Earth’, which emphasises the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature by making transformative changes, through policies and our choices, towards cleaner and greener lifestyles. “One Earth’ was the motto of the 1972 Stockholm conference; 50 years later, this motto remains relevant: this planet is our only home, and humanity must preserve its limited resources.

According to UNEP’s report Making Peace with Nature, published earlier in 2022, transforming social and economic systems must involve improving our relationship with nature, understanding its value and putting that value at the heart of decision-making.

World Environment Day

World Environment Day takes place every year on 5 June. It is the United Nations’ landmark day to promote environmental awareness and action around the world. Over the years, it has become the most important date for raising public awareness of the environment, celebrated by millions of people around the world.

In addition, the Swedish government will also host Stockholm+50 in 2022, an international meeting to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1972 Stockholm Conference, to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to achieve sustainable recovery from the COVID-19.

The 1972 Stockholm Conference resulted in the Stockholm Declaration on the Human Environment, which includes several guiding principles on global environmental governance. Another outcome of the meeting was the creation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and World Environment Day.

Badges and the environment

No product can claim to have zero impact on the environment. Eco-design is about integrating environmental protection into the design of products. At Ebadges, we have been aware of these issues for a long time.

A badge can help to make visible a particular professional or personal commitment, a know-how, a skill. What better way to raise awareness about sustainable development than to communicate with badges? They are easy to make, and to share, they are great to start acting collective

Events related with the environment

There are a lot of environmental days, but one of the most important ones is without a doubt the World ENvironment Day. In June 2022 alone, there are more than 10  days on this subject, among which we find the World Ocean Day or the World Refill Day (a global pollution prevention campaign).

Together, we can change the world. Let’s join our forces,!!
