Clean the surface

How can you apply suction cups to an uneven, dirty, or porous surface without them sliding around? The ideal surface is one that’s completely flat and completely smooth. Even the strongest suction cups won’t stick to uneven surfaces because the surface of the cup isn’t as dense or dense enough to create a strong bond.

Before attempting to apply a suction cup, it’s important to make sure the surface you’re applying it to is squeaky clean. Scrub your chosen surface with your preferred household cleaner, then rinse and dry it thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.

Always make sure your chosen surface is clean and completely dry first! After you have applied a suction cup, be sure to thoroughly scrub the area where it was applied to avoid trapping any dirt or dust underneath. Once you’ve removed all dirt, go over the surface again with a lint-free cloth to remove any remaining residue.

Clean the suction cup itself, too. Be sure to clean the surface you want to attach it to, plus the inside of the suction cup. Rinse the cup under warm water, paying close attention to the suction cup’s interior. Then shake off any excess water. (Don’t dry it though—water droplets on the inside of the suction cup can prevent air from forming in the seal.

Applying the suction cup

Finally, it’s time to apply the suction cup! 🙂 Press the suction cup firmly against the surface you want to stick it to, making sure there are no air bubbles between the cup and the surface.

After you’ve attached the suction cup to your product and it has sealed in place, wait 24 hours to let the bond form. In other words, don’t put anything on the suction cup or the item it’s attached to after it’s applied. Keep it away from water and ensure that there’s no additional moisture inside the suction cup. This will allow for better adhesion between the two surfaces and for a stronger bond.

Once you’ve got your suction cup securely attached to your surface, be sure to check back on it occasionally to ensure an airtight bond. To remove any air pockets, turn the cup upside down and give the surface a firm press to dislodge any trapped air. Fluidity at different times of year can also affect suction cups, so it’s important to check the cup periodically.
